Obituary of Lorraine Dionne Buckley

Lorraine Dionne Buckley, age 92 passed away peacefully at her residence in Land O’ Lakes, FL on April 2nd 2024. Born on September 24, 1931 in Thorne, North Dakota, she was the daughter of August and Hermine (Bérubé) Dionne. Lorraine was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John, her daughter Kelly, and her son Patrick. Lorraine was also proceeded in death by her grandparents, Hylas and Emma (Cassavant) Dionne and Arthur and Victorine (Mongeon); her parents, August and Hermine; brother, Eugene; twin sister, Lillian and sisters, Thelma and Dora.

Loraine grew up on the family farm where she learned how to cook family-style based on her French heritage. All who knew Lorraine marveled at the meals and desserts she could whip up without a recipe to follow. After High School she set out on adventure with her identical twin sister, Lillian moving to San Francisco, California. While working in San Francisco as a telephone operator, Lorraine met the love of her life, a Navy Officer, John Buckley who she married in 1960. Together, Lorraine and John lived an adventurous Navy life living from coast to coast and were blessed with four children. Lorraine and John eventually retired in the community of Magnolia Point in Green Cove Springs, Florida where she learned to play golf and became part of the Red Hat Society.

Lorraine leaves a legacy of love, happiness, and friendship.  She will be remembered for her continuous smile and positive outlook on life. She was devoted to her family who will greatly miss her. Lorraine is survived by her sons, Tim Buckley (Kathy), Kevin Buckley (Tara) and daughter-in-law Jean (Patrick); her nine grandchildren Sean (Amy), Matthew (Rachel), Sarah (Ganon), Daniel, Joseph, Kaitlyn, Jack, Derek, Zackary, and great-grandchildren Grayson, Graham, and Virginia.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

A graveside memorial service will be held at the Hampton Military cemetery, where Lorraine will join her beloved John and daughter Kelly. At a date to be determined, a second memorial service will be held at the Saint Louis Cemetery, Dunseith, ND.
